Jiangsu Government Scholarship For International Students (Agreement Scholarship) refers to the scholarship clearly stipulated in the signing of friendly provinces /states and other neighborly cooperative agreements between the provincial authority and the foreign side, according to the requirements of Chinas overall situation and the local economic development.

II. Eligibility and Qualification

International students applying for Agreement Scholarship shall meet the eligibility and qualification below:

(I) Qualification

  1. Bachelor and associate degree program applicants need to be holders of diplomas or certificates equivalent to the graduation of Chinas ordinary senior high school aged under 30.

  2. Master degree program applicants need to be holders of bachelor's degrees (or equivalent) under 35 with two reference letters from professors or associate professors.

  3. Ph.D. program applicants need to be holders of master's degrees (or equivalent) under 40 with two reference letters from professors or associate professors.

    (II) Eligibility

  4. Applicants need to be holders of valid foreign passports or nationality documents of no less than 4 years, with residence records in their home country for 2 years or longer by April 30 of the year of school registration (as evidenced by the entry and exit stamp dates on their passport with an accumulated nine-month stay within a year in their home country being regarded as one year of residence)

  5. Applicants in good health with goodwill towards China

  6. Applicants need to be in good conduct without absence from class or any other violation of school regulations or Chinese laws and rules.

  7. Applicants with outstanding and top-of-class academic performance.

  8. A minimum of HSK Level 4 is needed for Chinese-taught programs as evidenced by relevant certificates, such as HSK Level 4 Certificate or above. Advanced English language proficiency as evidenced by a satisfactory and valid TOEFL or IELTS grade report is needed for English-taught programs.

  9. Non-holders of other full scholarships like Chinese Government Scholarship and International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (previous Confucius Institute Scholarship).

     

    III. Application Procedure

    Step 1: The number and criteria of the Agreement Scholarship shall be determined in line with the friendly agreement signed between the provincial authority and the foreign side within the validity period in the previous year. Agreement cooperators shall select the recommended applicants in accordance with the agreement.

    Step 2: Jiangsu Education Department shall review the eligibility and qualification of the recommended applicants and issue the scholarship certificate to the qualified applicants.

    Step 3: Applicants shall inquire about information of courses and universities for international students, and directly apply to universities on Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange website (http://www.jesie.org/). Applicants shall upload the scholar certificate issued by Jiangsu Education Department.

    Step 4: Schools shall evaluate the applicants of Agreement Scholarship based on the criteria, give priority admission to the applicants who meet the criteria, and deliver the admission list to Jiang Education Department for filing.

    Step 5: International students with Agreement Scholarship shall be subject to universities annual review in line with the relevant regulations. For those students who fail to pass the annual review, their scholarships will be terminated or canceled. But they can still get scholarships if they pass the following yearly review. The number of students whose scholarships have been canceled can be provided for outstanding international students from the same grade, who can be independently selected by the universities.
