Recently, nearly two hundred freshmen of international students from 36 countries have been enrolled in our university. In order to make it convenient for international students to go through all the admission procedures, our university has set up a centralized reception place in the foreign student apartment (No. 3 Pujiang Building in Jiangpu Campus).
Our university attaches high importance to the freshman orientation of international students. Gong Jianminm, Vice President of Nanjing Tech University, chaired a coordination meeting to carefully prepare for the freshman orientation . All relevant departments worked together and did a lot of work on the publicity, security, traffic guarantee, logistic services and and other aspects of freshman orientation in order to ensure its orderly process.
On the morning of September 19, Vice President Gong Jianming personally came to the freshman reception site to visit reception staff and student volunteers and learnt about the progress of international student registration. He also had a friendly talk with newly enrolled international students. International students were registered in good order. Our university’s Planning and Finance Department and logistics services group set up venues at the reception site to deal with enrollment procedures, which greatly facilitated international students’ handling of admission procedures. The Logistics Service Department and the Campus Security Department did a great job in equipment support, traffic guarantee and security. The University Health Service specially set up a medical assistance station at the reception site. The College of Overseas Education further improved the process of freshman orientation, organized Chinese and foreign student volunteers to guide freshmen at places such as the airport, university main entrance and main routes, and set up guiding signs in many places to help foreign students successfully check in.
After freshman were enrolled, the College of Overseas Education collaborated with relevant departments and specialized institutions to organize international student entrance education on the themes such as laws and regulations, campus safety, rules, professional introduction and academic guidance to help international students adapt to the new study environment as soon as possible.
