防诈骗小课堂(二十八)- Beware of "Prepaid" Consumption Traps
ClickTimes:     Release Date:Apr.02,2026    Update Time:Apr.02,2026

Dear international students:

Have you ever encountered merchants enthusiastically promoting prepaid consumption with the slogan 'the more you recharge, the more discounts you get' when shopping online, taking out food, beauty and hairdressing, or fitness and entertainment? This type of "prepaid" consumption may seem cost-effective, but in reality, it carries hidden risks. Recently, there have been frequent cases of criminals using prepaid recharge to commit fraud. Please be vigilant.

I. Fraudulent means

1. False promotion inducement: Using "high cashback" and "ultra-low discount" as bait to induce a one-time large recharge, and then the merchant goes missing or closes the store.

2. Step by step setup: First, gain trust through small recharge, then use phrases such as "last day of the event" and "limited quota" to urge additional recharge, and finally the funds will run away.

3. Information theft: Fraudulent recharge through unofficial payment links or QR codes, while stealing personal bank account information.

II. Preventive Tips

1. Adhere to per use consumption: Try not to apply for prepaid cards, and choose single payment when necessary to avoid fund accumulation.

2. Verify qualifications: Choose legitimate and reputable merchants, and do not trust unfamiliar online links or personal transfer requests.

3. Retain evidence: Keep chat records and transfer vouchers. If any abnormalities are found, immediately report to the police and contact your counselor.

Safety is no small matter, take precautions into consideration. Let's consume rationally and stay away from the prepayment trap!
