Dear international students! In the life of studying abroad, international or domestic express delivery is very common, but some scammers are taking advantage of this by designing "express claims" scams to cheat money. Today we will uncover this type of fraud and teach everyone how to prevent it.
I. Fraudulent means
1. Firstly, the scammer falsely claimed that the user's international express delivery was lost or damaged during transportation, and that a high compensation claim could be processed.
2. Secondly, in order to gain trust, they will accurately provide your shopping information or tracking number, inducing you to add the so-called "claims customer service" WeChat for private communication.
3. Finally, scammers may request users to transfer money or ask for sensitive information such as bank card numbers, passwords, verification codes, etc. under the pretext of "paying transaction fees" or "submitting claims materials". Once this is done, the money will be transferred.
II. Preventive Tips
1. Official verification: Upon receiving a claim call, first verify the logistics status through the courier company's official website or customer service, and do not use the contact information provided by the other party.
2. Do not provide bank card information: any claims process that requires transfer or requests bank card information or verification codes is fraudulent.
3. Refuse unknown links: Do not easily add unfamiliar WeChat, do not click on unknown links, and do not engage in so-called "claims operations" through unofficial channels.
